The Bottom Line on Work from Home Opportunities for Nurses

Working at home when you are a nurse may seem like an impossible option, but you will be surprised to know that there are actually quite a few legitimate opportunities for nurses in the work at home job market.  Additionally, nursing is one industry where work at home scams are greatly minimized and easily avoidable, so if you are interested in work from home opportunities for nurses then you have a great chance of finding something good.

Types of Opportunities

You may wonder just what type of job a nurse can get that allows him or her to work from home.  There are actually a few different jobs.

-      on call scheduler

-      hotline worker

-      billing/coding/transcription

An on call scheduler basically is like a manager position.  You are responsible for scheduling nurses and making sure shifts are covered.  You will have to be on call, meaning that you will need to be available at all times in case someone can not make it to work and you will need to find a replacement.

A hotline worker basically answers incoming calls to answer simple medical questions.  You will usually have a set schedule.

Billing, coding and transcription jobs all involve paperwork and typing.  You download information, fill out forms and then send the work back to the employer.  Sometimes you may have set hours and other times you may be able to work on your own schedule.

Documentation Required

All legitimate nursing jobs will require documentation.  They will want proof of your training and experience.  Most of these jobs are not for the entry level nurse.  They will want experience in the field for at least two or more years.

You will not be able to simply hand them a resume and assume they will believe you.  They will check everything you tell them, so always be honest or you will not get the job.

Most job postings are very specific as to the requirements for the job.  Do not waste your time applying for a job where you do not fit the credentials.  This is a highly competitive industry and you may feel you need to apply to every job, but when you apply for something you are qualified for it just slows things down and wastes time.

Find a Good Job

If you are serious about work from home opportunities for nurses then you can begin your search with current and past employers.  They may be the best place to find a good job.

You can also network online to find out if there is anything out there that might be of interest to you.  Make sure to check out all companies and only use trusted resources to find your leads.

Getting a nursing position where you can work at home is not for everyone.  If you enjoy the patient interaction and the technical side of nursing then it probably won’t work for you.  However, if you enjoy dealing with paperwork and handling questions then it may be the ideal situation for you, especially if you want to be able to work from the comfort of your own home.

Why Should You Choose Term Insurance Instead of Whole Life Insurance?

by: Ethan Lewis

"Different strokes for different folks."

When it comes to life insurance, it's important that you keep that saying in mind.

Most people are familiar with "whole" life insurance. This is the kind of insurance where you will get back a certain amount of money when it "matures" at the end of the insured period.

What you may not know is that there is another form of life insurance called "term" life insurance.

Similar to whole life insurance, when you get a term life policy, you pay a sum of money (the "premium") to the insurance company, and in exchange the company promises to pay out a certain amount of money should you die during the period for which you are covered under the policy.

In other words, you are buying insurance coverage for a certain period of time.

But unlike whole life insurance, you will not get back any money at the end of the insured period when you buy term insurance.

You may be saying to yourself, "But won't I be throwing money down the drain? After all, I won't get back a single penny after the insured period!"

Hey, I understand how you feel. But rest assured that term insurance is still a very idea, and I highly recommend that you use it to your advantage.

So, why should you still consider term insurance?

Well, one advantage of term insurance is that it's cheap. In fact, for the same amount of insurance coverage, the premium for a term policy is only a small fraction of the whole life policy's premium.

And this is why term policies are a great way for you to make sure you are sufficiently covered. If you've never checked out the premiums of a term life insurance, I highly suggest that you go do it soon. You'll be surprised at how cheap it is to bump up the insurance coverage for yourself!

Plus, you can use the money you save from the lower premiums to invest in some other areas that can potentially generate higher returns for you. This strategy is generally known as "buy term and invest the difference", and it's something I recommend that you take into consideration as you do your financial planning.

Internet Is A Gold Mine For Mesothelioma Lawyers

by: Sam Gurgis

One man's misery can be another man's fortune. This seems to be the case with the mesothelioma victims on the one hand and mesothelioma lawyers on the other. An online feeding frenzy is currently taking place. The average mesothelioma case today is settled at around 1 million dollars, and that figure jumps to 6 million dollars when the lawsuit goes to the courts. With such enormous money to be made, legal firms are hungry for a slice of the action, and are shelling out big money for online visitors. The result is that search engines and other sites that can supply them with those visitors are racking up huge revenue.

It works like this. In the sponsored listings of search engines, clicks (visitors) are auctioned off to the highest bidder. When someone searches “mesothelioma”, the highest-bidding law firms appear. With the keen competition, these firms are paying as much as $100 per mesothelioma-related visitor to their web site. That’s $100 every time someone just clicks on their ad - and a lot of the clicks are from competitors. Less than one in ten visitors may actually submit an inquiry about the services of the legal firm. And only a fraction of the inquiries convert into clients. Therefore, it is costing lawyers tens of thousands of dollars in advertising to secure a single client.

There is something truly obscene about this situation. But, it is inevitable that while there is huge money to be made from litigation, lawyers and publishers will continue to hustle for their slice of the action. You can even find these vultures on YouTube making an undignified pitch for business. If only a portion of the money could be directed to cancer research. Perhaps these legal firms and others who profit from this horrendous disease should consider donating a portion of their gains to research organizations. By doing so, they may appear a little more genuine and less like vultures.

Mesothelioma is a form of cancer linked to asbestos exposure. In fact, 70% to 80% of mesothelioma cases are caused by a history of exposure to asbestos. It can take decades for the symptoms to appear. Each year, approximately 2,000 to 3,000 new cases of mesothelioma are reported. In the past 20 years, the number of reported cases has increased significantly. Although it can take up to 50 years for symptoms to manifest, mesothelioma patients experience a host of symptoms. These include shortness of breath, or a wheezing and hacking cough, which often lead to chest or abdominal pain. In the more serious cases, individuals may have bowel blockages, anaemia, a bloody cough, and jaundice. It is extremely difficult to secure accurate statistics about how many individuals suffer from mesothelioma because in the early stages, the symptoms are quite similar to various other conditions. This often leads to a misdiagnosis of the disease. In addition, when an accurate diagnosis is finally made, the disease has typically already progressed to a more advanced stage.

With the renovation craze that has occurred in the past 2 or 3 decades in countries such as Australia and the US, it is expected that the high rates of diagnosis will continue for decades to come. And as long as there is money to be made from this disease, the vultures will also be around.

How Do I Boost Student Consolidation Loan’s Effects?

by: Devora Witts

When someone reaches graduation usually wants to get rid of student debt as fast as possible in order to move on to another stage of his financial life. However, this is not always an easy task. Student debt accumulates and prevents graduated students from repaying the whole debt in a speedy manner. Sometimes students spend years paying just the interests on their loans while the principal remains intact.

Moreover, student loans usually have a mere 6 month grace period after graduation that lenders seem to think is enough time for someone to get a permanent job and a steady income. This is not always true; in fact, it takes far more than that to find a job. And those lucky enough to get hired within this period, usually get part-time jobs or temporary jobs which do not provide a good enough income to meet the loans’ installments.

Student Consolidation Loans

This situation forces students to resort to student consolidation loans so they can reduce the amount of their monthly payments and if possible reduce the amount of money paid on interests too. Furthermore the sole reduction of the number of outstanding loans cuts hundreds of dollars on administrative fees that are usually charged separately (though sometimes included in the interest rate).

Student Consolidation loans help by reducing the monthly payments; however, they will not speed up the debt reduction process unless you undertake other measures in order to boost their effects. There are many additional actions you can take in order to start eliminating debt more quickly so you can become debt free in a few years.

Cut On Unnecessary Expenses And Postpone Costly Actions

Till you find a permanent job, you can aid your debt reduction process by cutting on redundant expenses such as dinning out, attending to clubs every weekend, etc. Also, it will not kill you to keep sharing an apartment till you can afford rent on your own while managing to pay for your loan at the same time.

Basically, unless after paying for your loan monthly installment you have enough money to cover for any unexpected event, do not get into more unnecessary expenses and use the money to pay off the loan’s principal sooner or build some savings for emergencies.

Forbearances

Another option if you find yourself in a tight situation is to request your consolidation loan lender forbearance. Forbearance is a period of time during which the loan payments will be suspended. Make sure you use this time to solve whatever problem is preventing you from making your monthly payments and also to build some savings to cover for unexpected events in case this comes to happen again.

Most lenders offer forbearances only once a year and some of them only offer one in the whole life of the loan, so make sure you really need it before requesting this grace period. Otherwise if another unexpected event takes place you will not be able to use this tool and will have to resort to other finance sources worsening your debt problems.

Home Base Businesses Numbers Continue to Grow

Home based business opportunities are growing daily, along with a new spirit of entrepreneurialism and independence. Today’s technology is making working from home far more common today than just a decade ago. Though the general consensus is that more people are working from their homes than ever, finding solid data to prove this can be difficult.

Because things change so quickly, much of the data, collected two to four years ago, may be inaccurate.

The latest statistics from the U.S. Department of Labor are from 2004, but already show a growing trend for men and women working primarily at home. In that year 20.7 million people worked, at least part-time, from their homes most working for another company. About 7 million of those were self-employed…in other words, they were home-based business owners. The average work week for someone working at home, according to the study, was 25 hours, and most were professionals, such as people who offered consulting services or sales related businesses. Another huge chunk of the at-home pie are those working in the construction industry.

Though the general belief may be that women far outnumber men working at home, this is not the case. Men and women were about equally likely to work out of their home, and there are more parents working at home than singles.

And, according the Labor Department, home-based businesses are run by educated folks. People with a bachelor’s degree or higher were more than six times as likely to work out of their home than those without college degrees. This is likely because it is easier for someone with a management background to transition to a work-at-home job.

This trend of working at home is partly due to advances in electronics. Most homes have computers with high-speed internet connections. Most people have the basic computer skills to put together a rudimentary website. And information is so readily available, the resources available to someone wanting to work from home are numerous and inexpensive. Also, there are more and more opportunities for people wanting to work from home.

In addition, it’s become a much more accepted way of doing business. With the increase in the number of businesses run from homes, it is much more commonplace.

According to the NBBTA.org, the online arm of the

National Black Business Trade Association, home based business represents a $427 billion industry (this figure exceeds another figure found on this subject). That exceeds the pharmaceutical, food, and consumer goods industries---combined.

Home-based businesses are considered small businesses. The Small Business Administration estimates that 52 percent of all small business are home-based---and small businesses (those with less than 500 employees) represents 99.7 percent of all employer firm. The home-based businesses, according to 2007 SBA report, generate $102 billion in revenue. Home-based businesses owners earned less than their counterparts who work outside the home, $22,569 compared to $38,243, but their earnings were worth more, which evened out the playing field.  “Due to lower expenses, particularly in rent and labor costs, the average home-based sole proprietor consistently gained a higher return on gross revenues at 36 percent, versus 21 percent for the non-home-based,” the report said.

Getting accurate reporting on home-based businesses is difficult, but the general consensus is that this is an area of the U.S. economy that will continue to grow, especially during an economic downturn where traditional jobs are more difficult to find.

NutriSystem is Cheaper Than Weight Watchers; Who Knew?

Scale, Scale on the Floor, What is the Cheapest Diet at the Core?

By Sylvia Cochran, published Dec 26, 2008 Published Content:

NutriSystem, a weight loss system made up of the NutriSystem for Men and NutriSystem for Women components, is rumored to be more expensive than Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers at the same time Nutrisytems is one of the diets that work, and if weight loss is on your resolutions list, this system might be worth a second look - if you add a second component.

Critics Agree: NutriSystem is Expensive - But Not As Expensive As You Might Think

If you are a regular reader of Forbes Magazine, then you know that a couple of days ago it had its sights set on dieting, and the NutriSystem diet in particular. NutriSystem for men and for women was hailed as one of the country's "most popular weight-loss plans" but at the same time it also required a fiscal commitment.

Consumers were in for a surprise when they checked a little further through the article and learned that the cost of the NutriSystem diet runs about $74 for women and $82 for men during its initial week. This figure does not include fresh veggies and fruits. Weight Watchers, on the other hand, costs about $385. Citing statistical evidence from the census, Forbes asserts that the "average American household of four spends $254.10 a week on food."

Critics Place NutriSystem First and Weight Watchers Last

Weight loss with a dedicated system might appear to some a bit too rigid for comfort, but for those with a lot of weight to lose, there really is no doubt that the regimented and prepackaged diets supplied by NutriSystem and Weight Watchers have their merits. It is thus perhaps a bit surprising that the Top Diet Review site has named Weight Watchers as one of its diets on the naughty list while NutriSystem got top honors on the nice list.

Dieters Want to Know: What's The Path to Losing Weight

An analysis of the Weight Watchers and NutriSystem plans shows that Weight Watchers is a perfect lifestyle changer. It is not intended for quick weight loss, provides peer pressure as a means of ensuring compliance, and also enables individual dieters to use visual means of points to think through their food choices.

Eartha Kitt Dies at 81

NEW YORK — Eartha Kitt, a sultry singer, dancer and actress who rose from South Carolina cotton fields to become an international symbol of elegance and sensuality, has died, a family spokesman said. She was 81.

Andrew Freedman said Kitt, who was recently treated at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, died Thursday in Connecticut of colon cancer.

Kitt, a self-proclaimed "sex kitten" famous for her catlike purr, was one of America's most versatile performers, winning two Emmys and nabbing a third nomination. She also was nominated for several Tonys and two Grammys.

Her career spanned six decades, from her start as a dancer with the famed Katherine Dunham troupe to cabarets and acting and singing on stage, in movies and on television. She persevered through an unhappy childhood as a mixed-race daughter of the South and made headlines in the 1960s for denouncing the Vietnam War during a visit to the White House.

Through the years, Kitt remained a picture of vitality and attracted fans less than half her age even as she neared 80.

When her book "Rejuvenate," a guide to staying physically fit, was published in 2001, Kitt was featured on the cover in a long, curve-hugging black dress with a figure that some 20-year-old women would envy. Kitt also wrote three autobiographies.

Once dubbed the "most exciting woman in the world" by Orson Welles, she spent much of her life single, though brief romances with the rich and famous peppered her younger years.

After becoming a hit singing "Monotonous" in the Broadway revue "New Faces of 1952," Kitt appeared in "Mrs. Patterson" in 1954-55. (Some references say she earned a Tony nomination for "Mrs. Patterson," but only winners were publicly announced at that time.) She also made appearances in "Shinbone Alley" and "The Owl and the Pussycat."

Tips On Generating Income On The Internet

Due to the economic situation today there are many people who are discovering their primary source of income is not adequate to take care of even their most common necessities. Therefore, these same people are exploring different ways to supplement their income. An excellent way to do this is by generating income online.

There are various money making avenues in cyberspace. Active income streams can be a good source to look into. A few active income streams will advertise that you will be able to make money while not investing much effort or contribution, be aware of these. Legitimate active income streams will usually involve some type of trade or effort on your part, which in turn will add to your income.

The fact is most people who start their own online businesses already have a full time job, thus limiting the time and effort they have to put forth in order to build their streams of income. Generating income online give you flexibility to work your own hours and schedule. There are legitimate programs that pay residual income. Residual income is income you continue to receive even after you stop working. The influx of residual income does not stop once the job is finished, as long as the business exists.

To assist you in generating money online there are many programs on the internet that provide websites (some for free) you can personalize, sales materials, banners and many other resources you will find very helpful the more you research a specific topic.

There are a few fundamental details that will aid you along your road to creating streams of income. The most crucial thing to remember is to be patient. As mentioned earlier you will need to put forth effort and it will also take you some time to build up your income. With any worthwhile endeavor there is a learning curve. In this world of instant gratification many entrepreneurs become impatient and may even quit before they generate any income not giving their business a proper chance to begin and grow.

The next thing to remember is to stay motivated and focused. Work on building your business a little every day will keep help you motivated. Remember to focus on one thing at a time. It is a good idea to set daily goals of what you want to accomplish. When you start out you will sign up for various things to help in building your business. If you are not careful these things can become a serious time thief. It is important to take a break now and again so you don’t get burned out. Taking a break now and then is truly helpful because when you do come back to work you have real energy and many times a fresh perspective on things.

Lastly is learning how to effectively utilize available resources. The internet is treasure chest of information. By asking the right question you will get the right answer. When you are faced with a problem ask for a solution. When it comes to the search engines there are many different ways to ask one question. Think of a different way of wording a question you want to ask. You will be surprised by the different search results you will get by asking the same question five different ways. By using resources effectively you will be able to maximize your efforts and the income out of your product or service.
You may find at first that it is somewhat overwhelming to handle all that is involved in building an income online. Remember these key points:
* Be patient
* Be motivated
* Be focused
* Use your resources effectively
If you remember to apply these fundamental key points, in time you will develop the necessary skills to generate income online. The devil is in the details. If you develop solid fundamentals in the beginning this will help you make the best use of your time. Eventually you may even be able to quite your day job.
